Juicing vs Blending

This is an interesting video that debates the difference between blending and juicing.  Although I believe they are both healthy, I think it’s better for your body to eat whole foods.  I start every day with a  healthy breakfast smothie as it fills me up and I don’t have time to make anything else in the morning.

How do I make a green thickie?

The best part is, they are really fast to make:

  • Fill half your blender jug with either water, or a combination of water and milk.  (I like to use oat, rice, soya or almond milk).
  • Add a pint of oats,
  • a handful of greens.  (I use a couple of frozen spinach blocks to save time),
  • a handful of fruit (I use frozen mango chunks as they are extra sweet, and don’t require any chopping),
  • a sprinkling of seeds (I like linseeds),
  • and if you like it extra seeds a handful of dried fruit such as raisins.
  • I also like to add a bit of desiccated coconut.  (Optional)

All this takes just a few minutes to whizz up in the blender and you have a large batch of Green Thickie for the whole family to share.  Green Thickies will also keep well in the fridge for a few days.
